The simple dice roller allows you to choose the number of dice to roll and the number of sides on those dice. You may also add to or subtract from the total, or multiply the total.

If you need to roll a more complicated set of dice, you can use the “command-line” interface built into chat . This lets you roll complex dice rolls, such as with multiple sizes of dice, comments, and additional mathematical operations.

Syntax: /roll dice [plus | minus | multiplier | more | text]… [# comment]

dice

[n]dm[/<H|L>keep][![fuse]]

n

The number of dice to roll. If omitted, the default is one.

m

The number of sides on the dice. Can be any positive number, or the letter f (for Fudge/Fate dice).

keep

The number of dice to keep. For example, to roll 4d6 and keep the highest 3, use /roll 4d6/H3. To roll 2d20 and keep the lowest (i.e., “disadvantage”), use /roll 2d20/L1. You can’t keep more dice than were rolled.

fuse

The number at which to “explode”, which must be at least two. If omitted, the default is the largest number on the die. To roll 4d4, all of which explode on a 3 or a 4, use /roll 4d4!3.

plus

A plus (+) followed by a whole number. This may be repeated as many times as you like.

minus

A minus (- or −) followed by a whole number. This may be repeated as many times as you like.

multiplier

A times (x, ×, or *) followed by a number. For example, to increase a roll's result by 50% (“empowered”), use /roll 3d6 * 1.5. This may be repeated as many times as you like.

more

Additional dice can be included by using a plus or minus sign, as above, followed by a dice specification (as above). E.g., /roll 2d6 + 3d4. This may be repeated as many times as you like.

text

Anything that can’t be processed according to the syntax above is treated as a note. Use this to explain what the roll is (e.g., /roll 1d20+8 Perception or /roll 2d6 piercing + 1d6 fire).

comment

Anything after a hash symbol (#) is ignored by the dice roller, even if it is otherwise valid syntax. Use this to include math notes that you don’t want added to the roll, or anything else that should appear at the end. For example: /roll 1d20 + 12 Perception # 3 Wis + 6 ranks + 2 magic + 1 trait
